Dr. Carmelo Hernandez

Dr. Carmelo Hernandez, M.D. was in the Air Force from 1981-1985, during which time he was an officer and a pilot. After his stint with the military, he attended Wright State School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. It was here that he earned his medical degree. After his residency at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, he moved to Pisgah Forest where he started the practice Sylvan Valley OB/GYN in 2001. Dr. Hernandez became Board Certified in OB/GYN in 2004. He is also affiliated with the American College of OB/GYN, the North Carolina Medical Society and the Transylvania Medical Society.
Dr. Hernandez is fluent in Spanish. He and his wife 6 children and live on a farm in Pisgah Forest with chickens, horses and donkeys!

Dr. Brian Barrow

Dr. Brian Barrow, M.D. earned his Bachelors Degree in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Florida in Gainesville followed by medical school also at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He then completed his residency in OB/GYN at the University of South Florida in Tampa. His training was at Tampa General Hospital, a 1200 bed tertiary care center with approximately 6000 deliveries per year, and Moffitt Cancer Center. He is trained in the latest minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery and vaginal/pelvic floor reconstructive techniques to treat a variety of female conditions. He has performed numerous innovative laparoscopic and vaginal procedures treat incontinence and pelvic floor relaxation. Dr. Barrow has personally delivered more than 1,000 babies, including over 450 by C-section. He is a member of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists and is board eligible in the practice of obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Barrow has always wanted to live in the mountains and is happy to now be in Brevard.
